Uno scrittore di nome Donald Spoto mi chiese di questo film e gli dissi che Hitchcock mi chiese di guardare l'uomo che stavo per assassinare come se fosse una donna bella, fissando amorosamente il bersaglio prima di sparargli. Ciò che non menzionai al signor Spoto fu che Hitchcock mi fissava dritto il pacco ogni volta che mi parlava, senza mai guardarmi negli occhi. All'epoca ero convinto che doveva essere un pervertito. A writer named Donald Spoto asked me about this film and I told him that Hitchcock asked me to regard the man I was going to assassinate as if he were a beautiful woman gazing lovingly at the target before I shoot him. What I didn't tell Mr Spoto was that Hitchcock stared right at my crotch whenever he talked to me, never once looking me in the eye. At the time I was convinced he must be perverted. I already knew he was a genius.

Un gran simpaticone, Rock Hudson. Molto cortese e assolutamente professionale. Sembrava una stella del cinema.

A very nice guy, Rock Hudson. Very polite and completely professional. He looked like a movie star.

[Su Dario Argento] Venerava l'altare di Hitchcock e insisteva che io interpretassi un sicario che viene ucciso immediatamente nel suo film. Mi è piaciuto molto Dario Argento, un tipo strano che amava usare le mani per dirigere.

He worshipped at Hitchcock's shrine and insisted I be an assassin who gets killed immediately in his film. I enjoyed Argento very much, a strange guy fond of using his hands to direct.

Casanova era un sogno per me come attore ma un incubo per il povero Fellini, poiché era sempre alla ricerca di soldi. È come un bambino, molto sensibile. Cosciente di tutto ciò che gli accade intorno.

Casanova was a dream for me as an actor but a nightmare for poor Fellini as he was always trying to get money. He is like a child, very sensitive. Aware of all that goes on around him.

[Su La tortura delle vergini] Il film fu molto redditizio per Hoven. Peccato che lui e Mike non andavano d'accordo. Non era all'altezza di dirigere un lungometraggio e lo sapeva. Mi ricordo che l'attrice molto ben dotata Oliviera Vuco, quella che cerco di stuprare nell'osteria, voleva fare l'amore con Udo Kier. Lo perseguitava durante le riprese, persino entrando in camera sua di notte. Dato che era gay, lei si sentiva molto frustrata. Quando fu il momento di girare la nostra scena avrei dovuto sopraffarla. Questa grande donna però sfogò la sua frustrazione su di me e fui io a essere sopraffatto.

The film made so much money for Hoven, it's too bad he and Mike didn't have a good rapport. He wasn't up to directing a feature and knew it. I remember the very well endowed actress Olivera Vuco, the one I try to rape at the inn, wanted to make love to Udo Kier. She was after him throughout the filming, even coming to his room at night. Since he was gay she became very frustrated. When it came time to shoot our scene I was supposed to overpower her. However this huge woman used her frustration on me and I was the one who was overpowered.

[Su Dracula contro zombi] Andava bene, suppongo. Albert Band era un simpaticone per cui lavorare e Jose Ferrer era un grande attore. Ci siamo sentiti in imbarazzo per un po'.

It was okay, I guess. Albert Band was a nice guy to work for and Joe [Jose] Ferrer was a great actor. We felt embarrassed for a while.

[Su Le notti di Salem] Il trucco e le lenti a contatto erano dolorosi ma mi ci abituai. Mi piacevano i soldi soprattutto.

The makeup and contact lenses were painful but I got used to them. I liked the money best of all.

Detestavo lavorare con Bill Cosby. È un porco. Lo incontrai per la prima volta a Roma dove feci un episodio di Le spie. Bill Cosby è maleducato, arrogante e molto privo di talento. Mi passò oltre sul set come se fossi un mobile. Cercai di essere cortese ma lui lo rese impossibile. Raramente ho lavorato con qualcuno come lui, prima o dopo.

I hated working with Bill Cosby. He is a pig. I first met him in Rome where I did an episode of I Spy. Bill Cosby is rude, arrogant and very untalented. He walked right by me on the set as if I were a piece of furniture. I tried to be polite but he made it impossible. I have rarely ever worked with someone like him before or since.

[Su Dracula... Ti succhio] Fu un'esperienza snervante. Lo fecero i fratelli Marshak, che scrissero il copione con la matita su grandi fogli di carta, consegnandoceli secondi prima di girare. Nessuno conosceva le proprie battute perché venivano continuamente cambiate. Stavamo in un piccolo albergo in Palmdale, California, e le persone entravano e uscivano dalle camere in continuazione tutta la notte. Era un'orgia. John Holmes era il protagonista del film, ma restò sul set del castello. Infine vidi ciò per cui era così famoso, e sembrava un enorme serpente a riposo! Tu capisci cosa intendo!

It was a very nerve-wracking experience. The Marshak Brothers who wrote the script in pencil on large sheets of paper, handing it to us seconds before we did a take, did it. Nobody knew their lines because they were being changed all of the time. We were all staying in a small motel in Palmdale, California. And people were going in and out of people's rooms all night. It was an orgy. John Holmes was the star of the film but he stayed on the castle set. I finally saw what he was so famous for, and it looked like a huge snake in repose! If you know what I mean!
