*I Khmer Rossi conclusero che il popolo cambogiano fosse pigro, e che non poteva diventare una grande potenza come prima se non cambiasse il suo stile di vita. Così, per creare una nuova società, hanno dovuto distruggere la nostra civiltà e le nostre tradizioni. Cercarono anche di annientare il Buddismo, siccome il Buddismo dice, «Vi prego, siate tolleranti; vi prego, non fate la guerra; fate la pace.» Il Buddismo non sarebbe stato ideale nel creare guerrieri forti.
