Esorto il popolo del Bangladesh dovunque siate e con qualsiasi [arma] abbiate, a resistere contro l'esercito di occupazione fino alla fine. La nostra lotta dovrà continuare finché l'ultimo soldato dell'esercito di occupazione pakistano non venga espulso dalla terra del Bangladesh. La vittoria finale sarà nostra. *Sono certo che la propaganda maliziosa e la campagna motivata effettuata da interessi costituiti attraverso i loro agenti e protettori non riusciranno ad ingannare il nostro popolo. Certamente non si scorderanno che ogni volta che nel passato fu fatta qualsiasi richiesta dai pakistani orientali, per quanto piccola, semplice e ragionevole sia stata, questi beneficiari e agenti degli interessi costituiti sollevarono il solito putiferio con i gridi ben noti di "l'Islam è in pericolo'", "il Pakistan viene ostacolato" e "Bengala sovrano" ecc. Fu lo stesso gruppo di persone che scoprì la "mano invisibile dell'India" nella nostra semplicissima richiesta di inclusione del bengalese come una Lingua di Stato accanto all'[[Lingua urdu|urdu]]. Questi sono le persone che sfacciatamente chiamarono il nostro Sher-e-Bangla un traditore e imprigionarono il nostro amato leader Suhrawardy con l'accusa fantastica di demolire il Pakistan con l'aiuto di denaro straniero. Niente è troppo meschino per loro pur di conseguire il loro obiettivo egoista, che è la perpetuazione del loro sfruttamento del popolo del Pakistan Orientale.

:''I am confident that the mischievous propaganda and motivated campaign carried on by the vested interests through their agents and protectors will fail to mislead our people. They will surely not forget that whenever in the past any demand was made by East Pakistanis, however small, simple and reasonable it might be, these beneficiaries and agents of vested interests kicked up the self-same dust by raising the well-known cries of 'Islam in danger', 'disruption of Pakistan' and 'Sovereign Bengal' etc. It was the same set of people who discovered 'hidden hand of India' in our simplest demand for inclusion of Bengali as a State Language along with Urdu. These are the people who brazenly dubbed our Shere-e-Bengal as a traitor and incarcerated our beloved leader Suhrawardy on a fantastic charge of wrecking Pakistan with the help of foreign money. Nothing is too mean for them to achieve their selfish objective which is perpetuation of their exploitation of the people of East Pakistan.''

:''The life of any individual like myself is nothing compared to the salvation of the people of my country. I know of no nobler battle than to fight for the rights of the exploited millions. This is the lesson I have learnt at the feet of my political master Suhrawardy. He is no longer in our midst to guide us. But I am determined to live up to that lesson and keep his flag flying.''

 

*Che male abbiamo commesso? In seguito alle elezioni, il popolo del [[Bangladesh]] conferì a me e alla lega Awami la totalità del suo appoggio elettorale. Ci aspettavamo che il parlamento si sarebbe riunito, che avremmo elaborato la nostra costituzione, che avremmo fatto progredire questa terra, che il popolo di questo paese avrebbe conseguito la sua libertà economica, politica e culturale. Ma è motivo di dolore il fatto che oggi siamo costretti a dire con tristezza assoluta che la storia degli ultimi ventitré anni è stata la storia d'una persecuzione del popolo del Bengala, una storia del sangue versato dal popolo del Bengala. Questa storia degli ultimi ventitré anni è stata una storia delle urla di agonia di uomini e donne.

It was our expectation that the Parliament would meet, there we would frame our Constitution, that we would develop this land, that the people of this country would achieve their economic, political and cultural freedom. But it is a matter of grief that today we are constrained to say in all sadness that the history of the past twenty three years has been the history of a persecution of the people of Bengal, a history of the blood of the people of Bengal. This history of the past twenty three years has been one of the agonising cries of men and women.''
