Norodom Sihanouk: differenze tra le versioni

*Il povero e umile popolo di Cambogia non mi critica. Non hanno risentimenti, perché si identificano in me. Certi profughi intelettuali dicono che il principe balla, canta e suona musica mentre il nostro popolo soffre. Ma allo stesso tempo il popolo balla. Ho delle foto di molti cambogiani che godono del medesimo stile di vita. Ricchi o poveri, amiamo ballare, la musica e le rappresentazioni artistiche. È così che viviamo. Nei campi profughi, hanno le loro orchestre tradizionali e moderne. Hanno le loro compagnie di ballo. Ballano, bevono. Questo è lo stile di vita cambogiano.

*Quando ho abdicato al trono nel 1955, ho smesso di avere amanti. Da re, potevo permettermi d'essere un donnaiolo, perché ero ricco e, secondo, perché è conforme con la tradizione cambogiana per il re avere molte amanti. Ma come capo di un partito politico, ho dovuto condurre un'elezione ogni quattro anni. Non potevo essere un donnaiolo, altrimenti i nemici politici avrebbero detto che Sihanouk non era serio.
