*Penso che molto della vita di una volpe passa sul filo del rasoio, sommersa dall'acutezza dei suoi sensi. Nella volpe, l'evoluzione ha modellato una creatura per cui ogni stimolo viene elevato alla massima sensibilità: per la volpe c'è l'immagine fulminea della palpebra che si chiude di un coniglio, lo squittio chiassoso di un topo distante venti metri, il tanfo spaventoso dell'orma vecchia di un giorno di un cane.
